Metrobus has thankfully reached a settlement agreement with DEMAWUSA, following a disturbing three day strike, which left commuters stranded. The past three days have been a subject of extensive negotiations between Metrobus and Union management. At the centre of these negotiations – was a plethora of demands in excess of 44 by the Union questions.
During the negotiations Metrobus services came to a complete halt, creating dissatisfaction amongst loyal commuters. Metrobus Management and the Union were hard at work to thresh-out the differences to speedily reach an agreement in the best interest of the commuters. The process required the two parties to work through the 44 demands – a process, which run late into the night on Wednesday 29th January 2019, resulting into a landmark breakthrough this morning. Metrobus service will resume services with immediate effect, but expected to operate optimally from tomorrow morning, bringing much relief to our commuters.
Metrobus apologises for the inconvenience caused to commuters as a result of the industrial action and commuters. We would like to sincerely commend our commuters for exercising the utmost patience during this difficult time….
