Man caught driving 241kmh

JOHANNESBURG – A 31-year-old BMW driver has been arrested for clocking in at 241kmh in a 120kmh zone on the N4 highway in eastern Pretoria on Wednesday morning.

The motorist, who was driving a BMW 330i, was nabbed near the Bossemanskraal interchange.

He was apparently on his way to work at a Barloworld company in Middelburg in the early hours of the morning when the Gauteng Traffic Police’s High Speed Unit arrested him.

The speedster was formally charged with reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of exceeding the speed limit.

He will appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court.

Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane condemned the incident.

“Most fatal crashes are as a result of this bad-boy behaviour by motorists,” Nkosi-Malobane said. “Anyone found guilty of such bad driving behaviour must be dealt with in the harshest terms.”
