Gauteng residents who qualify for the newly launched KlevaMova travel discount are invited to enjoy free rides on the Gautrain this coming weekend, 24 and 25 May 2025.
The KlevaMova initiative, recently introduced by Gautrain, offers a 50% discount on train fares for eligible passengers. The product is designed to support:
Households with a combined annual income of R350,000 or less
Students under the age of 25
School learners
Pensioners
SASSA disability grant recipients
To celebrate the launch, pre-registered customers can travel for free on the Gautrain during the weekend special. Each eligible participant may also bring along up to three guests.
Registration Deadline: 21 May 2025
To take advantage of the offer, individuals must register at [klevamovaweekend.gautrainalerts.co.za](http://klevamovaweekend.gautrainalerts.co.za) before the deadline.
Upon arrival at a Gautrain station on 24 or 25 May, participants will be welcomed by promoters who will verify registrations and issue wristbands for free access throughout the day.
Promoters will also assist interested commuters in registering for the KlevaMova 50% discount product, which is available as a weekly, monthly, or return trip option.
“This weekend isn’t just about free rides,” said Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela. “It’s an opportunity for residents to sign up for a product that makes daily travel to work, school, or other destinations more affordable.”
To qualify for the KlevaMova discount, applicants must submit relevant documentation and undergo a verification process.
“We’re building a connected Gauteng—one where transport is inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial status,” said Diale-Tlabela. “Affordable public transport is not a luxury, but a necessity that helps drive economic growth and open up opportunities.”
